Fine fragrances at home or in the office provide a refreshing smell and thus immediately dispel all unpleasant odors. Thus, they provide an improvement in the quality of life at home or the working environment in the office. In addition, the special aromas in the fragrances can improve mood and even have positive health effects: For example, some aromas help to relax, provide a free and antiseptic air and have an invigorating or stimulating effect. A perfect alternative to the typical room fragrances, which can be bought in the supermarket, are organic fragrances, which can be easily made yourself. Why these are much better than buyable fragrances and how they can be made quite easily, will be found out below.
Fragrances for the room from the trade usually have quite a lot of chemistry. This can sometimes have a harmful effect on health and even cause allergic reactions in some people. The artificial ingredients also pose a threat to the environment. In addition, commercial fragrances are usually sold in pressurized gas cylinders. The gas, in turn, also has an extremely harmful effect on the environment.
Organic homemade fragrances are in any case a better alternative to artificial fragrances from the store and can also be made in a few minutes. The different ways in which fragrances can be made for the home or office and which ingredients are best suited for this purpose are explained in the following paragraphs.
Probably one of the best-known methods to provide a fresh scent in the room is offered with a diffuser: Here, the fragrance oil is in a glass, in which, in turn, several bamboo sticks are placed, which distribute the scent throughout the room. To quickly make a diffuser yourself, you do not have to spend much time at all. All that is needed is a glass, a glass bottle or a flacon. In any case, the vessel should have a narrow opening, otherwise the aromas can quickly escape through the air. Now about 200 ml of an odorless oil such as sunflower oil is filled into the jar. This forms the basis for the fragrance. Then an essential oil of one's own choice is added. For example, a lavender oil is particularly suitable for this purpose. Finally, 10 to 15 bamboo sticks are placed in the jar and the diffuser is ready.
If you have any empty canning jars left over, you can easily turn them into jars for diffusing a pleasant fragrance: To do this, simply chop up some citrus fruits like lemons and oranges and put them in a canning jar along with some herbs like mint. Now add some water so that all the ingredients are floating in it. To ensure a strong fragrance, each preserving jar prepared in this way should still be placed in the microwave for a few seconds: The heat will dissolve all the aromatic substances and thus release their fragrance. The preserving jars can now be placed and thus act as biological room fresheners.
With the help of canning jars, biological scents can also be made in a different way. In addition to the canning jars, baking soda is needed for this: Soda basically pulls all bad odors out of the air and therefore provides the perfect base for a fresh scent. The canning jars are therefore simply filled halfway with baking soda. Now a few drops of an essential oil of one's choice can be added to the baking soda. Alternatively, some dried herbs or fragrant plant can be placed on the baking soda. Afterwards, the canning jars should be sealed and shaken well. If a few small holes are now poked in the lid of each canning jar, the scent can be released perfectly.
Small fragrance sachets are the perfect way to provide pleasant scents in all rooms at home or at work. These are very easy to make yourself: This simply requires some small bags made of a permeable fabric. For example, jute is perfect as a material. First, some dried flowers and herbs of one's choice are now mixed and thereby somewhat pulverized, so that the aroma of the flowers and herbs is released even better. Then the small bags are filled a little to two-thirds with the flower-herb mixture and they are ready for use: For example, the sachets can be hung up or placed anywhere at home or at work.
A room spray can be optimally used to immediately counteract unpleasant odors, because the scent of a room spray spreads immediately. A room spray with a biological scent is also very easy to make yourself. This requires an empty spray bottle - for example, from a cleaning product that is empty. However, it should be ensured that the old spray bottle has been cleaned well and no longer has any residues of other liquids. Now, to make the scent for spraying, all that is needed are some lemons and some vinegar. The lemons are squeezed, and the lemon peel is cut up and added to the lemon juice. Then a little vinegar is added. The mixture is now left to stand for about two weeks until it has turned a slightly darker color. Through a sieve, the mixture can now be filled into the spray bottle and the room spray is ready for use.
To good can be made potpourri itself to provide a pleasant aroma. This is probably the simplest method for creating a fresh scent, because all that is needed is a small bowl and some dried petals. The petals are filled into the bowl and thus immediately provide a pleasant and fresh scent in any room. Dried flowers of roses, marigolds or lavender are especially suitable for a potpourri.
